[next morning; Leon puts his plant on the window and starts training; hears Mathilda]

 

LEON:

「Sleep well?」

よく眠れたか。

 

MATHILDA: [nods]（うなずく）

 

LEON: 

「Good. ‘cause after breakfast, you gotta take off.」

よし、朝食を食べたらすぐに出て行くんだ。

gotta=have to

MATHILDA: 

「Where to?」

どこへ。

 

LEON: 

「Not my problem.」

しらん。

 

[goes to clean his guns]

 

MATHILDA: [throws a piece of paper on the table]

「Read it.」

読んで。

 

LEON: [takes it]

「.aahm ..」

うー・・・。

 

MATHILDA: 

「You don't know how to read.」

あなた、字が読めないのね。

 

LEON: 

「I'm learning, but.. I had a lot of work lately so.. I'm a little behind. What's it say?」

勉強しているんだが、最近仕事が多くて少し遅れているんだ。何て書いた？

 

MATHILDA: 

「I've decided what to do with my life. I wanna be a cleaner.」

将来何になるか決めた。「掃除屋」になる。

 

LEON:

「You wanna be a cleaner? Here. Take it. It's a goodbye gift. Go clean. But not with me. I work alone, understand? Alone.」

「掃除屋」になりたい？ほら、持って行け。餞別だ。掃除してこい。俺は一緒に行かない。俺は一人でやる。わかったか？一人だ。

 

MATHILDA: 

「Bonnie and Clyde didn't work alone. Thelma and Louise didn't work alone. And they were the best.」

ボニーとクライド、テルマとルイーズも一人ではなかったわ。最高のコンビだったわ。

LEON: [sighs]

「Mathilda, why are doing this to me? I've been nothing but nice to you. I even saved your life yesterday, right outside the door.」

マチルダ、なんで俺にそんな風に当たるんだ？俺は優しくはしたが何もしていないぞ。昨日ドアの外で命さえ救ったんだ。

 

MATHILDA:

「Right. And so now you're responsible for it. If you saved my life, you must have saved it for a good reason. If you throw me out now, it's like you never opened your door. Like you let me die right there in front of it. But you did open it. So..」

そう、だからあなたには責任が。もし私の命を救うつもりなら、善意で助けたに違いない。今私を追い出せば、ドアを開けなかったことと同じ。ドアの前で私を見殺しにしたのと同じ。でもあなたはドアを開けてくれた。だから。

 

LEON: 

「Mathilda....」

 

MATHILDA:

「If you don't help me I'll die tonight. I can feel it. But I don't wanna die tonight.」

助けてくれないなら、今夜にも殺される。そう思う。今夜には死にたくない。

 

LEON:

「Mathilda, you're just a.. little girl so.. don't take it badly, but I don't think you could do it. I'm sorry.」

マチルダ、君はまだほんの小さな女の子だ。だから悪く思わないで欲しいが、君には掃除屋はできないと、すまないが。

 

MATHILDA: [determined, takes the gun, goes to the window and shoots six times, puts it back]

「How's that?」

これでも？

 

LEON: [speechless]

 

["What's Happening Out There?"]

[on the street with their baggage]

 

LEON: [walking angrily, suddenly stops]

「Mathilda, don't you ever do that again or I'll break your head, you got that?」

マチルダ、またあんなことをやったら頭をカチ割るからな。わかったか?

You got it(that)?「わかったか?」Do you understand?よりくだけた言い方

MATHILDA: 

「Okay.」

 

LEON:

「And word like that. It's not professional. There’s rules.」

あんなことをするのはプロじゃない。 (プロには) ルールってものがあるんだ。

 

MATHILDA:

「Okay.」

オーケー。

 

LEON: [angry]

「And stop saying "Okay" all the time, okay?」

それから「オーケー」ばかり言うのをやめろ。いいな?

 

MATHILDA: 

「Okay.」

オーケー。

 

LEON:

「Good.」

よし。
